Abstract

The emergence of multidrug resistant microbes is a never ending threat and remains a major challenge in modern infectious diseases. While most attention and public health efforts have been focused on multi-resistant bacteria, an alert has recently been issued about the potential of multiple outbreaks of the uncommon multi-drug resistant Candida auris. The recent global spread of this previously unknown yeast that has nosocomial transmission is intriguing and poses interesting questions regarding its epidemiology, pathogenesis, management and infection control
