The Importance of Research Data Sharing: The Meeting Reports Section of the JID

The ultimate purpose of research that we are conducting in our laboratories is to increase the knowledge of health and disease, and improve the well-being of the population at large by preventing and counteracting disease. Towards this goal, researchers are expected to share their findings in an expedited and open fashion via timely publications in high-impact peer reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. In fact, several funding agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, require that papers emanating from research funded by them be made available to the public soon after publication.
