MRI is generally considered the gold standard for measuring breast volume due to its high accuracy of the modality. Many techniques used to measure total breast volume have been validated, but none of these techniques have been validated for their ability to measure the volume retention of fat grafts in the breast. In this study, the authors investigated the accuracy of the most common MRI technique used to measure fat graft retention in the breast by measuring the volume changes after breast augmentations.
"How long it can be?" is a question that continues to nag many, if not all, reconstructive surgeons performing flaps surgery. Taylor,1 Saint-Cyr2 and Rozen3 among others, gave an invaluable contribution in understanding the anatomical and the clinical territories of individual cutaneous perforating arteries. The purpose of their researches was more or less the same, i.e., to provide the foundations to a method to guide surgeons in designing safe flaps. Unfortunately, even though they developed some...
Lower limb open fractures (LLOF) treatment still represents a major challenge. The timing for flap reconstruction remains controversial, especially the ideal timing for wound coverage, despite being considered essential for limb salvage.1

Abstract Introduction In two previous studies, the quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with the participation of at least one plastic surgeon was evaluated in two periods: 1966–2003 and 2004–2008. Objective To evaluate the evolution of the quality of RCT publications by plastic surgeons in the subsequent 5-year period, from 2009 to 2013. ...

Abstract Implant-associated breast cancer is a well-described pathologic process that occurs in patients with breast implants. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), the most prominent malignancy associated with breast implants, has been extensively described, while literature regarding non-ALCL implant-associated cancers is limited. Here, we present a rare case of a 55-year-old female with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the breast and chest following multiple breast revision...

Purpose: The evaluation of palpebral laxity can be performed by the distraction test (DT). Although widely used in ophthalmologic practice, there is no consensus about the results considered normal by the test. The objectives of this study are to obtain the value of DT in a group of individuals with healthy eyelids and to compare with the measurements in subjects with senile ectropion. Methods: Lower eyelid DT was performed in 200 individuals without any eyelid pathology and in 30 individuals...
