Metamaterials: Hierarchical Multicomponent Inorganic Metamaterials: Intrinsically Driven Self-Assembly at the Nanoscale (Adv. Mater. 2/2018)

Thumbnail image of graphical abstract

Self-organized formation and self-propelled growth of complex hierarchical multicomponent metamaterials are reviewed by Igor Levchenko and co-workers in article number 1702226. A special stress is placed on self-assembly driven by highly energetic effects, which enable self-directed formation of metamaterials with unique properties and structures. The role of plasma in self-assembly is specifically addressed.
